Alexandre Borges
Alexandre is the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer of FINVEST. Alexandre previously served as controller of Captalys, a portfolio company. Alexandre also worked in various capacities as an analyst at both Rio Bravo Investimentos and RB Capital, working primarily with origination and structuring of residential and commercial real estate investments.
Alexandre holds a B.A. in International Business from Eckerd College and an MBA in Finance from Insper.
João Paulo Poiares Baptista
Founder and CEO of FinHealth Gestão de Recursos SA, a licensed investment manager focused on healthcare and life sciences, João Paulo was one of the pioneers in venture capital investments in Brazil. He actively participated on the development of Projeto INOVAR from FINEP (Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology), being responsible for the Venture Fórum Brazil. Also under the auspices of Inovar, he created and developed the first forums in partnership with BOVESPA. In a consultant role to BOVESPA, João Paulo performed strategic analysis, and enabled positioning and preparation of companies for investor presentations under the development directives of the program BOVESPA Mais. João Paulo was also one of the founders of former ABCR – Brazilian Association of Venture Capital, currently ABVCap. Prior to founding BBI Financial, he served as a Director of Rio Bravo Venture Partners, created by the merger of MVP (Mercatto Venture Partners Ltda) which he had founded in 1999, with the Venture Capital division of Rio Bravo Investimentos, a company created by FINVEST’s founder.
João Paulo holds an economics degree from Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal.
José Pio Borges
José Pio Borges is a member of the Board of FINVEST. Previously, he was president of the BNDES, the Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development. José Pio also served in various other relevant positions, including CEO of Pronor Petroquimica S.A., a petrochemical company, managing Director of BBM and Violy, Byorum Co. José Pio has held various board positions including Petrobrás, CVRD/Valepar S.A, Aracruz Celulose S.A., COPESUL, Banco do Nordeste do Brasil S.A., IBMEC-Brazilian Institute for Capital Markets, Rede Ferroviária Federal S.A. (Federal Railways), CLC-Câmara de Liquidação e Custódia S.A., and USIMINAS. He currently is Chairman of the board of CEBRI- the Brazilian Council of Foreign Relations.
José Pio holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Escola Politécnica–PUC/Rio de Janeiro and a Masters and PhD (abd) in Economics from the New School for Social Research, New York.
Luis Cláudio Garcia de Souza
Founder and Chairman of FINVEST, Luís Claudio serves as Chairman of Captalys, having been its founder and CEO. In the last 15 years, Luis Claudio also founded and built other financial services companies such as RB Capital, Rio Bravo Investimentos and UBF Seguros. Prior to that, for 8 years, he was a senior partner and a member of the Executive Committee of Banco Pactual, where he held positions such as head of corporate origination, head of distribution and head of the structured finance. Before joining Banco Pactual, for 9 years, he was a Managing Director and partner of Banco BBM Investimentos as well as CEO of its insurance affiliate. Luís Cláudio was a Board Member of BOVESPA for two terms and member of the Advisory Board of Securitas Capital, the private equity arm of Swiss Re.
Luís Cláudio holds a degree in Civil Engineering from PUC-Rio and master's degree in Systems and Transportation Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Márcio Garcia de Souza
Márcio is the CEO of FINVEST. Bringing to FINVEST both investment and operations experience, his executive career includes positions as Managing Director of Camargo Correa’s holding company, a large Brazilian conglomerate and CFO of Lojas Americanas and Bunge Alimentos. He was Chairman of the Board of Alpargatas S/A and Camargo Correa Investimentos Imobiliários - both listed at BOVESPA and of Grupo Tavex - listed at Bolsa de Madrid. His private equity experience was at Baring Private Equity Partners as partner of the Latin America Private Equity Fund. Márcio served on the board of ABVCAP - the Brazilian Venture Capital Association for one term.
Márcio holds a degree in Production Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and an MBA from Columbia University.
Marcos Moretti
Moretti is a Managing Director of FINVEST since its inception. He is currently General Counsel of Captalys, a portfolio company. As a former partner of Moretti Casciano, a law firm, he was an advisor to RB Capital and to UBF Seguros, companies founded by FINVEST´s founder. Moretti has also been CEO of BBM Seguros and then CFO of Paulista Seguros acquired by Liberty Mutual. Moretti started his career in Banking working at the New York office of Banco Real – currently Santander.
Moretti holds a degree in Mathematics from Universidade Bandeirantes and a Law Degree from Universidade Paulista with a especialty in Tax Law, from Universade Metropolitanas Unidas/Sao Paulo.
Margot Alyse Greenman
Ms. Greenman is a Managing Director of FINVEST. She is currently CEO of Captalys, a portfolio company. Previously, she was responsible for the Brazilian illiquid investment portfolio at D.B. Zwirn Co, a US$6 billion global special opportunities and structured credit fund. In 2009, the LatAm team left D.B. Zwirn to found Morgan Rio Capital Management, a Latin America-dedicated fund. Morgan Rio subsequently purchased an equity stake in Captalys and Ms. Greenman relocated to Brazil to join the company. Previously, Ms. Greenman worked at the International Finance Corporation and at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. Ms. Greenman is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Ms. Greenman received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and holds a B.S. in Applied Economics from Cornell University where she graduated valedictorian, summa cum laude with distinction in research.
Matías Fernando Cristóbal Vidal
Matías is a Managing Director of FINVEST. Matías has extensive international experience in Investment Banking, M A, Private Equity and Venture Capital, specifically in Biotech, Healthcare and Logistics. He joined Finvest when Rio Bravo Investimentos acquired Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein’s Brazilian investment banking operations. Later, Matías became partner and Director of Rio Bravo Inversiones in Buenos Aires. Matías previously worked at Deutsche Bank and Coopers Lybrand based in London. Throughout his banking career, Matías covered several sectors, including Telecoms, Media and Technology as well as Utilities sectors.
Matías holds a BSc in Economics from the Pontifícia Universidad Católica Argentina.
